Snails VS Yoyo & Blue botia loach

Geeze.... I know everybody's got to eat, but I'm such a wimp. I hate to think of a poor snail getting sucked out of his shell.:thud:

Sometimes, it seems, the cruelty of nature is just too hard on me.... sigh

You know it is odd that I have no problem putting the ramshorns in with them, but I could never imagine sacrificing one of the Briggs.

You have two species. One is Lymnaea stagnalis. The other looks like a Planorbis sp. but if the shell is positioned in a slant or flat manner, then it is another species which I'll try to figure out when I get home later hopefully.

The latter of the two looks like it wouldn't last against loaches, based on my own experience. Your blue botia might not be interested simply because he's out of his comfort zone being a single modesta amongst other loaches not of his kind, so snails might just not ever catch his interest.

If you have room for a third Yoyo, their behavior will change quite positively and (from my own experience) they will do a lot more rummaging and digging together.

The snails will probably disappear, especially if the loaches get into a more suitable school (not saying your fish aren't happy by any means)

my clowns DEVOUR any snail that comes accross their path. its hilarious. you know theyve found one because one will get really excited about "something" and then a whole bunch of others come over to help :)

yeah bump up the number of yoyos you have. what size tank are you keeping them in?

Hi All,

thanks a lot for all the info, great..

I have some worry about adding a third yoyo will the other two that "own" the tank now not bully him a lot?
If i can find another yoyo then they will differ in age, being the third mutch smaller.
will that be ok?

I have a 55G

I follow a couple suggestion that was given to me about introduction of new fish. When introducing a new fish into a established colony ether catch all of the like species and bag them up for a bit then release them all at the same time. The other method is to rearrange the decor or add new pieces in the tank right before releasing the new fish. The theory behind these methods (to my understanding) is that it disrupts the established territories and/or hierarchies that have been established and makes everyone start off fresh.

If I were you, get 3 more to spread out the aggression. Yes, it is possible your two yoyos will consider one as an intruder hence I suggest you add three more instead of one. The aggression will be quickly disperse and the social hierarchy established.
