Are there any snails I can put in my oscar tank? I have a 100+G oscar tank with two juvie oscars in it. Of course they are allways "Starving and malnourished!" In fact I saw them contact the ASPCA for lack of oscar kibble in their tank. (ha ha)

I love my snails in my smaller tanks but I cant stand the idea of trying out an apple in their tank. Is there anything known to do well with them? Canas maybe?

I dont know that I can even find a cana here. I will ask my LFS for some ponds, they are overrun. I tried a few MTS and only the tiniest ones can go in (even after lights out) without them noticing. I was just hoping for something big enough to not be looked at as food. What about Japanese trapdoors?

I would think that Lupin is right. I can't really think of an appropriate snail tank mate for an oscar that would survive long term. Good luck!

Thats what I think too and it bums me out. :( Oh well.

I think there has to be one snail that can manage some predators at least. MTS is one with pointed shells The pond snails are another with their ability to reproduce rather quickly than the oscar can manage to eat.

Pretty skeptical on this... I really think they'd be eaten. If only there were snails as big as a full grown oscar hehe :) Maybe it would stand a chance :grinyes:

Good luck :)

My Oscar always ate all his friends. I eventually stopped trying to add such to his tank.
