I am looking for a fish/snail to clean up a tank, and one that will not eat fish eggs. Will Mystery Snails or Apple Snails eat fish eggs? And will the eat leftover food matter?

Mystery snails should leave fish eggs alone for the most part. Apple snails, when they get big enough, may pose a threat to smaller fish eggs. Also, apple snails will easily outbreed your tank in a short time span if there's nothing in it to eat their own eggs. Both will clean your tank up pretty well, collecting extra food, sifting your substrate, and sucking on your glass.

Apple snails and mystery snails are both single sex snails and therefore need the opposite sex to mate. If you get just one then there should be no problem with over population. If you do get a male and female the eggs will be laid above the water line and are easily removed. The Pomacea bridgesii will not eat live plant matter however the Pomacea canaliculata will eat live plants. Both will clean up extra food left behind in the tank but they cannot live on just that. They need to be fed veggies such as cucumbers, Kale, collards etc.
