snake regurgitates whole hippo (you gotta see this!!!)

It was a hippo calf, not a full grown adult hippo.
Regardless, it was still an insanely large meal for any snake.

That was my thoughts as well EMG but as a snake owner I didnt apprecaite the novelty of it. I was acctuly thinking maybe a village child disappeared and someone found the snake with a huge bulge and thought maybe? Ive heard of large snakes eating small kids before.
 
thats just insane. i do agree with everyone that the guys poking the snake should be poked for a while them selves.

My guess would be a reticulated python (largest snake ever captured ) at 33 9 inches i believe that hippo would have been to much for a 12 ft snake. I have held 20 ft snakes and they couldnt have done it

but then its mostly in asia so ??

I saw this too. But weren't they debating on whether it was what killed the snake or not? The snake was decapitated right? I thought they were wondering if something killed the snake before the snake's tummy gave ruptured. :confused:

It was, but Afrocks easily hit 20', and 25' has been recorded....certainly capable of swallowing a small newborn hippo calf weighing 50-75 pounds (which appeared larger when regurgitated, since it was bloated from early decomposition/digestion).

wow, really? the biggest i've ever heard of was 14 feet. I guess that's just the size in captivity, eh? I read that in a reptile care book.

Not at all...a good friend of mine had a female that at 23' was probably the largest known in captivity....one of her daughters, now 18'+ currently resides in the Calgary Zoo.

wow. well, reference volumes are notoriously inaccurate when it comes to displaying the full size of the animal.
