Snakeheads and Wolves

I lost track of the thread, so I'm sending this through again. I know it's an old topic, but it's like a Mike Tyson fight - you just gotta watch. someone raised a question about which fish (aquaria freshwater) is the most aggressive. lots of people chimed in. some folks mentioned hunger as motivational behavior, the particular fish, etc. i gave an example of an 18" snakehead shaking the willies out of and putting some new body piercings into the nuchal hump of a fully grown RD. So aside from the "it depends on the fish" comment, if you had to stake your life (or maybe your prized fish) on it, which would you say would be the "fittest," a 1 meter Red-line SH or a 1 meter Dovii?

Dovii wont get to be quite a meter long, but a Channa micropeltes can, so I'd put my money on the Channa.


Pound for pound I think the Channa is a more powerful killer, and that's not due to media hype. i've never actually owned one (though I have owned a dovii that was a passive wuss), but from what I've seen and read they are wicked.

The whole size thing is really subjective. i've read reports of a 40" Dovii. that does seem a bit large for a cichlid. i had a Channa once and got rid of him very quickly. the animal grows at a phenomenal rate. perhaps i'll try another if i ever get the space for a 1000g. (just a couple of LFS)

why dont you put them both in a 10 gallon and find out. what a stupid question.
