Snowflake Eel and Clowns

Hello, I was interested in getting a small snowflake (3 inches long). I read many places that they eat small fish. I have 2 averaged sized Percula clowns in my tank right now. Anyone have any thoughts if this will work. I am worried about them. Its a 75 with 80 lbs of Live Rock. thanks alot.

Well, they would be a very expensive snack for your eel sooner or later.

SFE are mainly invert eaters. I had a Goldentail (which is a fish eater) Moray for years that grew from 8 inches to almost 3 feet and never ever ate any of my fish. IMO if you keep it well, fed, you should be fine. But then different fish have different personalities, so you are always taking a chance with any fish!

Im no expert but!!

Its always some differences in opinions on a SFE prey on your small fish or not, but lets just put it in some other terms that we all could understand. You feed the eel well until it refuses and it just may leave your small fish a lone and if its hungry, well we all can see just what could and can happen. And being that the tank is a 75 with a good amount of LR, the little clowns can survive a good deal in this tank.

The idea of a goldentails growth nearing 3' is somewhat short to what the record growth of this animal is 28" and yet for the most anyone would see them grow is 24" Also, just because any eel data says their max growth size is and so, it not mean that every single goldentail will max out to that size, Also being that the goldentail hails from a good number of different regions, they do differ to their maximum size and somewhat of a differences in their skin tone coloration.
