I don't know if you guys noticed this, but he already has fish in his tank. But he wrote it in white so it's not visible.
MudskipperFan, you don't seem to be listening to any of the people trying to help you. And even though your tank was left alone for a while and is probably not cycled and all the people on here have advised you to start over and not buy fish yet you just bought fish anyway. Why even ask if you can buy more fish if you're just going to go out and buy them no matter what the people trying to help you say?

Because, like a lot of people in forums like this, they don't really want advice, they want validation for what they've already decided they want to do.
This morning I was in chat and told a few people about the plants I had in there. They stopped growing and almost died and when they were "dead" that released ammonia. Someone in chat said that dead plants release ammonia, so that probably happened. I was talking with someone and asked if that means my tank got cycled from the plants and they agreed. I have tested the water every day since I purchased the fish (and I purchased them before I read the newer posts on Monday) and there have been no signs of anything bad. The results as of yesterday are:
Nitrites: 0
Nitrates: 5.0
Ammonia: 0
pH: 8.2
I'm telling you, my tank is fine! The gobies don't show any sign of being poisoned or whatever from the water quality and if there would be ammonia in there, the 6 anacharis strands and the (possibly small amount of) bacteria which built up when the plants were "dead" would clean it up. I left the tank alone for 3-4 weeks and someone said that's how long a cycle takes so that means that it got it's ammonia from dead plants, then they regrew, and then SOME bacteria and the plants cleaned up the ammonia and nitrites.
Your nitrates are atrocious! You should not have put fish in there!
They probably became acclimatized to the fact that their water is like poison.
I cant believe you didnt take any of our advice. IMO, you should just stop asking if you are not going to take our advice.
Do an 80% w/c before those fish die. That will be the only way to bring your nitrates down.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa? Are you jokin? I thought if nitrates were under 20 they were cool.
But if you're joking then cool!!!!!111 Did you misread nitrates as nitrites? Hmmmmmmm

Just to be clear, you currently have:
2 bumble bee gobies in the tank. Which have been in 4 days (added 8/16?)
Some anacharis.
The tank is currently fully freshwater. The puffers you want, go on sale again in a couple of weeks and are also kept in full freshwater.
there are a couple of MTS (the little snails you see)
You've taken out all of the rotting plants, and shrimp bodies.
Your test results today (8/20) are
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5
And you're going to test every day and write down the results of the test on a sheet of paper. Every couple of days you're going to post those test results.
We'll get you on the right track.
