So much negativity

I am new to Aquaria Central and I'm still finding my way around. I have been looking at as many posts as I can, just to get an idea of what this is all about and what knowledge everyone has ready on their fingertips. I must say I enjoy your site very much, there is a lot of good information and many nice people. I guess my only drawback is it seems like many times there will be thread after thread and post after poast about how much people dislike how lfs and petshops opperate, and the information they give.

I understand how frusterating it must be to people who have had negative encounters with employees, but I also feel that it is unfair to those that work in petshops and lfs that do know what they are talking about but seem to be drown out buy those who focuse on all the uneducated people.

The road goes both ways, educated customers meet the uneducated salespeople and customers who believe they know what they are talking about meet the salesperson who knows the customer isn't always right. It is frusterating on both sides to try to educate the unwilling and/or uncaring, but in the end you know that you did your best to help educate the uneducated and it is up to them if they choose to use it and grow.

I would like to make a proposition. Why not instead of focusing on all the negative experiances we have had, why not tell about the places we go and find good information. It doesn't have to be the entire store, it could be someone that works in the store that you know that they know their stuff. It can be short and sweet, or long and drawn out. Negativity is a turnoff, but being positive can work miracles.

Anyone up for the challenge?

;)

I really dont like seing those threads, but add my twp cents sometimes when I do. sometimes its important to see where not to go as wel as those places that are reputable. also, I understand the need to vent when you witness something you feel is wrong. But there are people who talk about good petstores on the boards, and even a few Employees of big box stores who will help defend those good petcos/petsmarts etc.

yup, we do have more than a few chain petstore employees on this board. I love that they're making the effort to educate themselves

ummmm.... we already have one of those..... see SFs thread?

Hehe, from my days of working retail research indicates that 9 out of 10 people who have a bad experience tell the tale while only 1 out of 20 people who have a good experience do the same. I'm not sure if the behavior is human nature or societal, but its there.

Yes I saw the thread of the good stores but why does everyone object to having more? There are plenty of bad places and bad experiances on here, I just don't understand why it would be so horrible to have more good exeriances. I guess I am alone on this, which is very sad, but understandable. To each their own, I guess it was worth a shot. thanks anyway.

On the other side of the coin, the posts about bad experiences are often helpful, for they can let people know what stores to avoid.

Rain... I do not see a desire to not have more, it is a desire to have them in one place for easy reference. In fact, the thread was devised because of all the negative posts about LFS in general.
