Well, my Jack Dempsey died a few weeks ago. Either an infection, or he ate some gravel and it didn't come out. Cause he started to get a bit swollen in the backside, then was dead one morning. :(

There are about 6 larger feeder's in the tank still (figure they will keep it cycled). These will come out when I restock (they will go back to the fishy store)

I am looking to restock. Not sure what I want though.

Here's my ideas, but I am totally open to suggestions/comments/concerns/death threats/etc. ;)
My tank is Tall, not wide/long by the way. I don't recall the dimensions, but its not a typical 55g.

Wife and I like the stuff on this list. We either want one or 2 larger fish (like my JD was), or some medium sized groups of fish maybe.

Tiger Barbs
Rainbow Shark
Red-Tailed Shark
Firemouth Cichlid(s)
Jewel Cichlid(s)/Red Jewel Cichlid(s)
Silver Dollar(s)
Salvini Cichlid(s)
Clown Pleco(s)
Otocinclus(s)
Julii Cory(s)

Like I said, I am open to suggestions of what on the list people think would be good, or would be good together.

THANKS!

30 otocinclus. Then two jewels.

The Jewel's won't go after the Oto's? They would seem easy pickin's since I thought I read they spend a lot of time on the glass of a tank.

How about: Salvini, Striped Raphael Catfish, school of Tiger Barbs, and a Bushynose Pleco -- with plants and driftwood....?

The Salvini info I read said they aren't the best Community Tank mates unless with similar sized/aggression fish. I do really like their coloration though.
Tiger Barbs only get to maybe 3"s right, so they would be a bit small to be in with a Salvini I would think.
Wouldn't the tiger barbs and the Salvini have 'issues'.

I went with Clown Pleco, cause they are small, and the fish store has them pretty frequently, and not too expensive if I recall. :)

Since you listed cichlids and non-cichlids I tried to come up with a mix that *might* work out....My thinking is:

Get the salvini as a juvie
Lots of barbs
Lots of plants
Lots of caves and nooks
Initially, salvini is too small to bother the barbs, so it hangs out in the caves and the barbs swim around
Over time, sal gets big enough to be a threat, but is used to not eating the barbs and would rather hang out in the caves then chase them around

Definitely risk though that you could start losing barbs over time...

Yeah, dunno if the wife would be pleased with that risk, lol.
And moving the Barbs to the community 75 in the long run wouldn't be a great plan, as that's pretty stocked already.

I just walked around the petstore and looked at fish I liked, that weren't super expensive. Then I went home and narrowed the list down (removing stuff that gets 32 feet in length, or requires anything odd).

This was just the list I ended up with.

We do like 'centerpiece' type fish, but it's nice to have some movement in the tank also.
