OK, don't shoot me... This idea is pretty ghetto:)

The darned suction copy on my thermometer wouln't stick for flip.
It's still quite supple and I'm pretty good about cleaning the glass I try to adhere it too...

Anyway...

Long story short, my thermometer has been 'rafting' around the surface of the tank for a while now, so tonight, during a partial water change, I lasso'd that puppy, clean the cup (again) and a section of glass, and before I slapped it in place, swabbed a dab of silicon within the cup and smaked it home... I get the feeling it WON'T be moving again;)

Yeah--and extra suction cups are good to have around when you have a tank--they have multiple uses. There are underwater fish safe adhesives--but silicone isn't one of them--it has to be dry and clean and alowed to dry afterwards.

if you wited for it to dry you will be fine, but as it dries it will leach out vinigar (acetic acid sp?) and this is not good for the fish, just keep an eye out for irritation, at the first sign of it, do a good waterchange or two!

how big do the banjo cats get and is it a pleco type or carnivore or some thing else

Thanks for the concern and yes I allowed it to dry first:)
