I know what you mean knifemaker. This was a couple of years ago. Guess I was just unlucky to see it.

I really can't stand MTV. They air more "CRAP" programming than all the other stations combined. Some of their prime time shows should be on late night. Thanks to them, I've had to explain several "situations" to my young kids, WAY before either of us were ready. I know, I should have control over the TV and what they watch :o

Pro wrestling is running a close second. Back in my day, wrestling was on one night a week at 11pm. No one tore each others clothes off. No one made sexual inuendos. No one used foul language. Talk about ANYTHING for ratings. 25 years ago it was just good old fashioned entertainment. Nowawdays..........what a bunch of CRAP!!!! :mad2

I hear you about the MTV! But my beef is less with the actual content then with programming. I don't think that they stuck with any one think for more than 30 seconds, even videos! It was the most ADD channel I've ever seen. I'm not saying that I was particularly interested in what any of their VJ's had to say, but at least stick with one theme long enough for me to zone out a little.

my recent listenings include children of bodom, motograter, rammstein, skindred, metallica, zeppelin (some of those most ppl havent even heard of im sure, hahah)

Right now I'm listening to some live Janes Addiction.

Tyler718...I hadn't even scrolled far enough to see HArlock's coment...nor do I know you, but when I saw your comment about Pink Floyd not being the same, I had the same thought. It's just not the same without chemical assistance. Whoever came up with the "Wall" and the Wizard of Oz thing had to be high.

Flyingfish...I agree with the sensitive hearing thing. My husband loves Stan Kenton and Maynard Ferguson. The musics ok, but when those trumpets go high it's almost physically painful. And he has to play it loud. Come to find out he has a partial hearing loss. I'm not surprised. It's all that high octave trumpet music!
We have a car that he will probably never get rid of because Maynard Ferguson rode in it. :D DH has been a fan of his since high school. For those of you who refer to the age poll, DH is closer to shaking hands with Moses than I am!

Pro wrestling isn't even about wrestling anymore. Its more of a soap opera than anything else. I have a humerus story relating to pro wrestling. I once worked with a guy named Roy who was 36 and had never left home. He was the biggest wrestling fan I have ever met. He had been trying to get a job with this one company for nearly two years but hadn't had any luck. Finally the employer calls him up when he wasn't home to see if he could get him to come in for an interview. The thing was his answering machine message had the voice of the Undertaker on it talking about death and the like. Well the guy has no clue who the Undertaker is and thinks Roy is the one who left the greeting so he hangs up. Needless to say Roy didn't get the job.

Interesting you should say that Karnaaj, I once read an article that talked about Pro "Wresling" as a soap opera for men. If you look at it that way, WWE is no worse than any of the soaps on during the day. Certainly not suited for children, but then, neither are the daytime shows.

Right now I'm sitting back and listening to Pink Floyd "The Wall". When I just want to relax after a bad day, I pop it in and just listen. For some reason it just doesn't have the same effect as when I was younger. :D

On Doll's defense though. Hootie does have a song I really like. "Deeper Side".

"T"

I don't know about that man. Floyd always seems to to the trick. Everything together. Their sound is just so awesome. Listening to David Gilmour solo to; whether it be his amazing work with "money" and all the effects he uses to get that perfect sound, or "marooned" off their latest album, or "shine on you crazy diamond", it gives me shivers each time I hear it. And let me tell you, I listen to Floyd all the time. Gilmour particularly, has so much emotion when playing, and everything he plays comes out so perfectly, with that perfect pitch and tone... Drives me nuts!!... I'll stop now, cause I can just keep on going, and going, and going. . . .

Oddly, as much as I always appreciated Floyd, it's only once i started playing guitar that I really realised what an amazing band they really are. if you have a chance, for example, listen to "Money". I never really liked the song, until I really sat down and listened to it. To hear what he does with his guitar, is just amazing.

i'll stop now, before you guys start thinking I'm a nut.. ;)
