So why did my fish die?

I can't figure it out, because I woke up one morning and one of my goldfish died, and then a day later another fish started moving really slow (It liked to hover around in one spot very closet to the ground), and when I woke up that was dead, now I only have one goldfish left. Did I try and put too many fish in onee tank ( I guess this is a 1.5 or a 2g I'm not sure), or was it a disease in the water or was my water not purified enough?

1.5/2 gallon? They are pretty much dead as soon as you put them in there. For 3 goldfish you need a 30+ gallon tank to start them off on life healthy, depending on the type of goldfish you may have needed more than 30 gallons. The only fish that can survive & be healthy in a 2 gallon tank is a betta.

If you just got the tank and fish recently, the more specific reason they probably died at this time is because the tank wasn't cycled. Did you cycle the tank before putting them in? Goldfish produce alot of wastes, and the ammonia spike would have killed them quickly.

As pointed out above, yes, you did put goldfish in too small of a tank. Goldfish require large tanks to remain healthy.

you definitely picked the wrong fish for a tank that small. some people would even argue that anything under 5g isn't enough for a betta. if you want to keep the remaining goldfish, you will need a 30g tank if it is a fancy goldfish, or larger if it is a feeder-type goldfish (comet). they both get at least 6-7 inches long, and if they do not have the room to grow, they will not stay small - they will die.

:iagree:
The water in the size of tank you are using would become toxic to the fish very easily as fish poo and uneaten food dissolves in it. You didn't mention if you have any air pumps or filters on/in your tank, so I'm hesitant to guess exactly what killed your fish. With the conditions you have specified, they were likely weekend by stress and then a lack of oxygen, toxic water, disease, or a combination of these finally outdid them. How long had you had the fish before they died?
Before I knew anything about fish I kept 4 goldfish in a 1 gallon tank for a month. I had no filter but I did have an air pump pumping bubbles into the tank. Without the water movement and aeration provided by this air stone, the fish would most likely have died. The only reason they lasted a month is because I did daily water changes and never let uneaten food dissolve in the water. Luckily I finally moved them to a 45 gallon outdoor pond.

30g is pretty big though isn't it? I mean my gold fish only grows to be an inch or so long...

What kind of a goldie do you have? Can you post a pic for us to ID?

I do not know of any goldie that only gets to be one inch.

:iagree: these guys are right, your goldfish will grow to fit its tank and if the tank is large enough, it will grow to its full size. If you have a fancy goldfish (with a fantail) then your goldfish could get to be about 8inches.... if you have a normal comet (or a feeder goldfish) these can grow to over a foot long. A 1-2 gallon tank would make them stop growing very prematurely which is why they're probably only an inch big.
