So, You Think You Know Who Ships Best- FedEx, UPS or USPS?

Interesting read!
I have a friend that works in sorting for UPS. He told me to never ship ups as he has seen some poor handling of packages. He said when things are being changed from belt to belt they are tossed, kicked, shoved, thrown and punted. He knows that I've shipped/received fish and has warned against UPS as a carrier.

Dont ship medication through UPS! We had a sorting facility in the rural part of the state I used to live in. I knew of a few people who worked there, and the employees supposedly learned to recognize which packages contained them. A couple of them ended up getting arrested for theft, but they would cut into them all the time...so i've been told....

I ship everything I possibly can through the USPS.

If I need it delivered overnight UPS Red is the way to go.

I really, Really dont like FedEx, and will do whatever I can to not use them.

When I ship, I use fed ex. USPS 7 times out of 10 has delayed packages sent to me. I agree USPS has the best prices, but the service is spotty at best. Never even considered using UPS. I would use USPS for anything up and down the east coast (I am in Mass), but anything outside of that comes and goes fed ex. Good luck.

i'm not surprised by the findings. agree with most of the discussions. won't use ups if i have the choice. a little thrown off by the orientation thing with usps. now that i think about it, every time i drop a package off at the post office, the guy turns it over like 4 times before putting it down... makes sense to me.

anyway... i REALLY LIKE this one...

Way to get best handling

It's well known that marking a package "fragile" just singles it out for extra abuse. If you really want special handling, pay the extra Hazmat fee and label it "Explosives" and ship it UPS ground. It *will* get special treatment!

haha... i'm really enjoying some of the stories. i can relate to many of them. the very last one... by gonzog2 was pretty good, too.

I knew a person who worked for UPS who said they regularly stole tv's, laptops, car parts ect. It's always best to get things insured. I never use UPS.

My B-I-L worked for UPS & was kinda PO'd I always sent his kids gifts Fedex, 1/3 less cost, faster & more convenient for me. But I've only gotten fish shipped USPS priority, no problems. But items like lights from DrF&S kinda hit (hard) or miss, I "think" they used UPS but can't recall.

This worries me a lot as I may be moving some fish cross country this summer...who to trust with my pets? Airlines?

I've had way too many bad experiences with UPS packages. I've never had a problem with FedEx and USPS is somewhere in between.
