So, You Think You Know Who Ships Best- FedEx, UPS or USPS?

I find this interesting - my preferred shipper is UPS ground and I have had great results with it. I have shipped all over the eastern US and it is a two day delivery for under $18 (most are around $15). I can track it from my shipper location to my customer's front door. I do use breather bags and small styro coolers packed tight with shipping peanuts so that may explain my good results. I have used USPS a few times - but I prefer the tracking offered by UPS ground. I am a bit OCD :rolleyes: when I have fish being shipped and like to check on them several times to make sure all is going well (at least according to the UPS web site). Just my two cents worth.

trigger or coincidence

We all know USPS online tracking is not as comprehensive as UPS or FedeX but;

I'm waiting for some Shrimp to arrive priority from Michigan to New York
and noticed something interesting. this morning I was panicing because
my package seemed to still be stuck in Michigan and a day overdue;

what's worse, it will be in the single digits fahrenheit here Tomorrow.
so at 10am EST I registered to get online Email about any new progress,
and POOF the online data get's updated and I see it's out for delivery.
what is stranger is even though 3 new scans were done on my priority
within the hour, I still have not gotten a single update Email from USPS.

I wonder if it's always a good idea to register your email on a package,
so then USPS computers know you are watching it's progress carefully,
or - this is just a silly coincidence, and I'm reading too much into it.

I'll let you decide, but from now on,
I will progress email register every priority...

I work at a warehouse. I had a UPS driver try and deliver me a round box. He tried to play dumb with me, like there was nothing wrong. I told him he had to take note of the damage in his little computer thing. He tried to tell me that I either have to accept it or return it. Good thing I knew better, I told my boss, who called the drivers boss, who give him hell. If you don't make notice of obvious damage, you cant claim insurance, or at least it is very difficult. So if you see damage MAKE the driver take note of it. It is not always the drivers fault that there is damage, so making note of damage, will not get them in trouble, unless there boss is a douchebag, or it really was there fault.

ups breaks or cracks everything they bring me, usps can be iffy at times, fed ex is the only shipper i use never a problem.

delivery confirmation is only scanned at the point where you hand it over the counter to the postal clerk and then once it arrives at its destination. that is all delivery confirmation is about. I use USPS ALL THE TIME AND LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try settling a claim with UPS - you get no help and no settlement 90% of the time. When I showed the ups driver that it had been broken into and things stolen from package, he accused me of doing it! They refused the claim based on his opinion even though I had pictures and noted "package damaged" when I signed for it!

My wifes brother works for USPS and anytime i need to ship my fish stuff or hav people ship me fish or fish stuff he gives me "caution highly explosive" stickers to put on it hahahah. Not only does my package get anywere in the continetal US in 12 hours or less but the box is usally in better condition then when it left lol

delivery confirmation CAN be scanned more often sometimes, but it's not the point. the point is it's either delivered or it's not. sometimes you just luck out.

out of all the shipping services and possibly over a thousand shipments, the only real problem i've ever had with a shipping service (other than random junk mail that belongs to neighbors from time to time) was less than a week before christmas this year. ups misplaced my package somehow and it showed as delivered to my address on their tracking and in their records. when i contacted the seller and ups, ups was dead-set on denying any wrongdoing and their stance was that under no circumstances were they paying to replace anything it seemed. i finally received the box days later beaten up, opened and re-sealed several hours after the last ups truck ran down my road. sitting 3' from the front door, the wife didn't even hear or see anyone come to the door. that leaves only one direction to approach without being immediately spotted due to most of the living room wall being a large bay window.

i know what direction they came, knew within 10 minutes what time the package was dropped, knew within seconds what time the last ups truck passed... just had no idea who actually brought the package to my door, hence no idea where it was actually delivered or how it got opened.

I'm in Australia, but can I ask.. If you mark fragile, why does it get more abused?
