Solitary Bolivian Ram or GBR in a 10 gallon tank?

Forgive the newbie-to-cichlids question. I did try searching for the answer but no luck.

I'm setting up a 10 gallon South American tank: driftwood, plants, a small school of 8 cardinal tetras. My water is incredibly soft straight out of the tap.

I'd like to add one solitary Bolivian Ram or GBR. Good idea or not?

one is fine if you want more color go for the GBR. Dont forget there are apistos out there. You could keep a pair of apistogramma borelli in a ten gallon.
 
Thanks. I don't want to stress out the fish by keeping them in too small a habitat.

Don't hate me, pacersfan, but I'm not a big apistos fan.
 
I second jm1212 especially if you consider a Bolivian ram..they are slightly larger than the Blue ram(commonly referred to as GBR) I have some and I could not imagine one of the males in a 10..20 or 20 Long gives a better footprint= room.
 
Thanks, star_rider. I'll put off the rams for now since I can't hangle a bigger tank anymore.
