Im ready to start stocking my 55gal. I have 3 female guppies so far. I want to get a pair a Angels for my centerpiece fish. At the fs where im going to buy them. I noticed 2 lip locking. Are these 2 boys, 2 girls, or a pair based on this behavior? I want to get male guppies, some kind of schooling tetras(no neons),some otos. Thats my list so far. Is this ok? Dont want balloon mollies , silver dollars because I already stocked them in my girlfriend's tank. Any suggestions? ..Dont really like cories.

I have had the same pair of angels for a year and my experiences in a nut shell is they never bothered any of the other fish in the community ( silver dls, cory's, Blood Parrots, neon's, or ADF's except and this is a big exception, other angels. The same pair of 4" Gold Vails I found at an LFS swimming together side by side systematically killed 4 other black marble angels (not paired) I bought 6 months ago. These two paired Gold Vail's would just not allow the other angels to live in peace. Now there are only the same two angels with the same silver dollars, neon's, cory's, blood parrot and ADF's.

My recommendation is finds the two largest pair that seem to stay close to one another and repel other angels and buy them and no others IMO.

Angels are not really angels
LOL
When a pair forms watch out!
As they grow bigger and they do, small fish like neons will become good snacks.
If you have angels and a lot of cover, then you can basically have anything you want in the community tank, given the fish that are in the same water parameters.
55 gl will be a great home for no more then a pair of Angels.
Rams do well, some of the larger tetras that are not aggressive are ok. Maybe a rainbow, and some bottom fish.

Took the plunge and got my Angels. I picked out what seems like a pair. There was one that chased the others and swam side by side with another. I picked those two . .... I think i made a mistake by gettin a 3rd. That one went into hiding. The male isnt letting that one get close. Hope it works out.

you should probably take that third angel back if you can. He will be constantly stressed and that will shorten his lifespan

Linda is on the money!
Good luck on your pair, keep an eye on your water and the rest of your fish.
Lets see some pics

Thank you! Was thinking of getting a 4th . Should I or take 3rd back? Sorry about the crappy pix. Cam phone.
