Some feedback on eels

Hey everyone, I have been thinking about adding a spiny eel to my 46 bowfront tank. I wanted to run my "thoughts" by all you experts out there, and see what you think so I get it right!

Right now, the tank is planted with a sand substrate, has a few mbuna and plenty of smooth rock hiding spots. With the extra space in the footprint from the bowfront, I think an eel will be happy, especially bought small. Not to mention, I can clearly foresee upgrading to a 90-125 tank in the next year or so.

So far, so good?

I am not such a fan of the peacock eel's pattern, which leaves me with the zigzag, tiretrack, and fire eels. I would love to add the red from the fire eel to my tank, but worry about the size.

Any opinions on which eel would be best? How fast do they grow? Which do keepers like best? Etc ,etc.

Thanks for your help!

Not sure about the others, but the Tiretrack is a very interesting fish. Have had mine for 6 months (He is 8-9" now!) They do like to bury themselves in the substrate. Also notorius for uprooting plants. I feed mine Blood worms and Earth worms. I hand feed him. Inteligent and curiouse. Upgrading your tank is a good idea, the bigger the better. They do get to 3'.

Not sure how one would do with your other fish.
Hpoe this helped some. :)
