some filter questions....

I agree on the AC hob filter . But I also LOVE my magnum hot 250 :) look on ebay and these other sites metioned. find the best deal for you . as far as the best canister , LOL~ that is a evergoing battle :) I agree with find one you like the looks, media, flow of , and do some research see what other say about each, then buy . Good luck . let us know what you get !! ~

An AC 110 is far from overkill on a 55G. I'm running one along with an Emperor 400 on mine and even had a HOT Magnum on the same tank for awhile, as well. I moved that filter over to my 10G to supplement an AC 50.;) There's no such thing as overkill filtration in my book; especially with HOB filters.

you could check out http://www.bigalsonline.com/ I was just looking there for a canister filter and they have a few in the less than 150 range plus free delivery. And if you call their customer help number, you actually get to talk to a person!

has been some testing on this board of this canister and has had positive things to say about it. I emailed the company and asked if they had the 50.00 sale price still valid since I read about there product being tested here and he said if you call him he will sell the filter for 50.00 here is the website if your interested just email them and ask for the 50.00 sale price on the canister you heard about it from this website where they were testing it and I am sure he will offer you the same deal and for 50.00 I think it would be a excellent deal I plan on getting 2 of them myself.

My old filter started to make funny noises again tonight... so i went out and bought the AC110... so far so good! i don't think i rinsed the ceramic rings nearly enough... hopefully by morning it should be clear again...

Wasn't the best price i could have gotten... but when you need a filter... you need a filter...

The big buenos aries tetras are LOVING the flow! up and down just playing in it! is so fun to watch... plus with the todays water change, i bet they think they have died and gone to the big aquarium in the sky!

EDIT: how long should i run the filter with my old stuff in it?

i would love to just run the old filter but like i said... its done... its had 6 long hard years of work without love(previous owners mistreated it!) i think the motors finally going, i even tried cleaning the gunk out... so i stuffed my old foam stuff in to the filter under where the bio ceramic ring thingys are...
