Some kind of tank cleaner for my Betta?

Are you watching to make sure he eats every one? I drop my pellets in one or two at a time and wait to see if they're eaten before dropping another. I guess I spoil my fish by making the sure the food is in front of they're face so nothing is missed.

Yes, upgrade! Get a ten gal with a filter and some tankmates if the betta isn't too rambunctious to put up with them, probably 5-6 small cory cats (special ordering is worth the hassle) and a few otos if the tap water doesn't require tweakage to pull it off. Feed them lots of cukes, zukes, and other veggies because there won't be near enough algae to go around. Or if you love plecos and must have one, get a pitbull (another special order)... just know that they kick out waste like nobody's business and require lots of water changes. None of these "tank cleaners" are low maintenance fish.

could get a bigger tank or add a few pond snails. they are small and dont have a large bio-load IMO. when my betta was temporarily in his tiny tank i did 50% daily water changes, which kept the water good.

ok folks, quit suggesting the addition of critters to fix a problem! especially when the problem is the keeper feeding too much.

feed less+more gravel vacc'ing+more water changes. plain and simple.

Give this girl a prize!!!

A much bigger tank would be a great idea first off. Just because people "assume" they can live in dixie cup doesn't mean they should. Get a good filter. Just because these are Betta's that doesn't mean they don't deserve good filtration. A 1 or 2 gallon is nothing. Try living your life in a closet with your own urine and feces. Doesn't sound too pleasant. IMO, the "1 inch per 1 gallon" rule should still apply to these fish. The waste will build up, the food will build up and the Betta could die. Get a 10 gallon if you can. Most places like Pet"smart" and Petco have tanks that size with a hood and sometimes even a filter with it for a reasonable price. A tank that small you will need to change the water every day. You don't need to add more fish (not that you can) to keep it clean. But if you were to get a bigger tank you could add some cories or any other small bottom dwellers. But thats ONLY if you get a bigger tank. You have to remember the bio-load in a 2 gallon with 2 fish that equal 3+" won't be sufficient. If you can't get a bigger tank, I'd suggest finding him a new home. Not to sound mean at all. But I had to do it once also. And you don't want the fish you suffer. My Betta Simon lives a spoiled life in his 10 gallon. So think about an upgrade and a 10 is a perfect size for a betta. They will enjoy it and it will be easier for you to keep clean.
