Dixie- if you want the smallest species that would be the Senegal Bichir. I have one of those too that I'm growing out in another tank. I see them for sale at Petsmart all the time labeled "Dinosaur Eel". They get a little over a foot long in captivity and are quite peaceful but they will eat small fish that they can fit in their mouth. The other 2 species I have can get well over 2 feet long and should only be kept with large fish species.

thanks, those thing i see at pet smart don't look as pretty as the ones you and Rachel have,..
but yes i want them to eat some fish that i need to keep numbers down,. and a few perhaps that are being a nusance,..lol j/k

do you have a pic of the one your growing out? perhaps its just p.smarts ones that are just ugly,..lol
