Some updated pics of my Spiny Tailed Monitors

Wow I was re reading the old posts and I could of sworn they were like 2-3ft long already lol. My memory has failed me. To read they only get 2ft is amazing. If you do succefully breed your pair Ill buy one Ill make the space for one it would be well worth the hounding Ide get when my mom finds out lol. I love monitors but as stated Savahnas and Niles are the ones commonly seen and get way to big.

Thought they would love the water. Dont monitors swim in the wild?

I'm really hoping they'll breed soon. They both are a little over a year old now. And yes, they're dwarf monitors from Australia. They only get about 2 feet with most of it being tail. Since they are from western Australia and live in the desert, they don't see much water hence why they're not crazy about it. But they are programed to swim seeing how monitors evolved into some of the largest aquatic reptiles that ever lived: the Mosasaurs.

probably didn't evolve into the Mosasaurs, they probably had a common ancestor (hell could be vary similar to modern monitors). just have to point it out because i am takeing a class on Evolution and Physical anthropology

Well....yes and no. They both come from the same Super Family called the Varanoidea. That is split into the 2 Family groups Mosasauridae and Varanidae (monitors).
