I'm buying too many fish, lol, just got back from LFS and got me 2 yoyo loaches, also I just picked up 4 angels (2 silver zebra, 2 sunset something) from a local breeder...

current fish in my 29G

3 guppies (first occupants)
2 dwarf blue gouramis
4 angels (will prolly remove 2 of them when they get bigger, currently all nickel size)
and 2 new yoyo loaches ($4 each)...

what can I do, I went there to pick up some plants and they have lots of loaches, weather loach, loach with red fins, etc.

I want to get 3 more clown loaches (but it's expensive there, $15) another place sell them for $10, but will not get them till I get rid of the 2 angels.

Now, am I overstock?

Your clowns will be overstocked by themselves in a 29g, as will more than a pair of angels. I hope that you have a larger tank at the ready or can get one!

I know clown can get preety big, but I will prolly keep them for 2 yrs (at least thats what I was told) for a 29G tank, as for my angels, I will prolly give them up too when they get matured since they get too aggressive when they get big, or I can prolly just get me a big tank by that time...

don't have one yet... but will prolly pickup a 10g if needed, why ask for quarantine? am I choosing disease/injury phrone type of fish?... bear with me I'm still a newb

thx

Not necessarily, Ace, but you always should have a Q-tank on hand so that your fish will not be exposed to the pathogens to which these other, newer fish may have been. A three to four-week quarantine period will do wonders in terms of giving you a chance to treat pathogens before the fish enter the display tank.

:) also, I first got a 20G, took it back to PetSmart after 2 days and ask for a 29G... will prolly stick with the one I have since I live in an Apartment, but when I get my own place (next yr?) 90G min...

thx for the info on Q-tank...

No problem. I believe that a Q-tank is not necessarily crucial to success with fish, but that it will improve the chances of success greatly.

Ashley, I think that he was hooked when he started buying fish that cost $4 each...usually that's past the point of no return! :D (Either that, or asking questions on AC...)

hehe i got started with a 20 long cause i had a loud upstairs nieghbors and needed some background noise. now 5 years later no more loud nieghbors but i have 4 tanks and only one of them is under 55 gals.hehe i could probly charge admission.
