Something new for my car...

NICE!!! I like the t-tops too!! I actually just went out and redid some wiring a few minutes ago. Got my charging system working good again, but Im still having a miss under hard throttle. back to the multimeter.

Can I make a suguestion? Some of those angled shots would look better with the wheels turned all the way to one side, gives the impression of motion. Like "arround the corner" FE

Yeah, that's the one pic i wish i had the wheels cocked a bit. I usually think they look better straight, but that one definitely needs turned wheels. I did turn them some, but it's definitely not enough.

How much HP does the ram kit get you? Ive got the formula FB and I like the sleeper look it has, but if there an advantage from the ram air I'd consider getting it. I do have the intake customized already, just relocated/cut the AF box, got me about 10 more ponies.

I deffinatly like the style of yours, the headlights and brake cooler scoops. Mines the 93 model, a bit toned down.

blah blah blah blah blah blah ginger blah blah blah blah blah blah ginger (from an old Gary Larsen Farside cartoon)

For someone like me who didn't grow up with/around cars in high school or college, when you guys start talking like this it is SO over my head--and I'm pretty smart. I absolutely love cars--give me a '67 Chevelle any day!!---they are moving scuptures to me, but when it gets to engine talk, etc.,
I just stand with mouth agape in wonder!! I used to do oil changes and spark plugs, easy stuff, but jeez, Fishy, you just blew me away!!!! DUDE!!!

HP=horsepower taken from an old measurment for how much water could be pumped using a single horse to turn an impeller

Ram kit/Ram Air=an opening, usually located on the hood of a car used to direct airflow to the engines intake. When done properly can increase the ammoutn of air, or the density thereof to increase horsepower.

Formula FB=formula firebird. Firebird is the model of the car, formula is an option package with a high horsepower 350 cubic inch motor.

Sleeper=a car that looks rather tame but with underhood modifications to make it faster, as opposed to cars that advertise they are modified for speed. Compair a 67 chevelle with an optional 392 engine(and a plain old pain job) vs a 67 chevelle malibu Super sport that came with the 392, a hood scoop and racing stripes.

AF box=air filter box. from physics we know colder air is more dense and resides at a lower area than warmer air. By moving the airfilter to a lower point in the engine bay, we are able to get a denser airflow. As above with the ram air, more air=more power.

Brake cooler scoops=simmilar to intake scoops. These allow for more airflow to the brakes to keep them from getting too hot.

Cam=camshaft. This parts function is to open and close the valves. Im sure you have heard the term overhead cam, or dohc (dual overhead cam) or something simmilar. A valve opens allowing air and fuel into a chamber, then the valve closes. the cyllendar squeezes the mixture then the spark plug ignites it, creating the power by pushing the cylendar back down. the cylendar makes another trip up, only this time another valve opens to allow the burnt fuel(read exhoust) to exit the motor.
The cam serves to open and close these valves at the proper times.

Posi=positive traction/limited slip. This has to do with the rear axle of the vehicle. Most cars come with an open rear differential. This means that if one tire starts to loose traction and spin, the other one will loose power. this makes a vehicle more stable and less likely to loose controll. The tire that looses power serves to anchor the vehicle untill traction is regained. While this is great for drivers inexperienced with loss of traction, it diminishes the overall performance of the car. A posi rear end will allow both wheels to loose traction. While this is more difficult to controll, it allows for better power distribution. Say you have 300 HP and all that is going to one wheel, it is likely to loose traction. Distribute the same 300 HP to 2 wheels and you have only 150 HP per wheel. For more information please see My cousin vinney starring that dude from karate kid.

700r4e=this is just a general motors transmission. I dont recall the meaning of the 700 or the "r" but the 4 means its a 4 speed and the "e" means its electronically assisted. IMO they are junk unless you get them upgraded(which I have)

Did I miss anything?

"4 barrel" = large carburetor that provides gas to the pistons. It been said the 4 barrel carb gives instant power with no lag time that fuel injection has...

The carburetor will be non-existant soon...

No way man. There will always be room for carburators!! They do have a better response time, but the FI market will improve that in time. also FI is more economical, which is the way things are going these days.

I did mean anything about my earlier posts, but if we need to answer more questions, and tone it down firther(e.g. from "tires" to "those rubber spinny thingies") we can do that too.

What's that lever for that makes a light on the dashboard light up - sometimes its on the left, and then right, depending on whether you lift the lever up, or push down on it? And the light goes on and off... Pong was more entertaining than that!
