Something on my Angel's pectoral fins.

I saw a white spot on one of my Angels pectoral fins. Actually one spot on each of the left/right pec. fins. They appear to be of different sizes, but about the size of ich - especially the one on the left. Nobody else has anything. My LFS said that Ciclids can show calcerous deposits on the pec. fins during growth spurts. Could it be this? Also, they nip each other once in awhile. The right hand fin shows a little damage as well as a spot on the boney(?) part of the fin. It's hard to see unless the light hits it right. The spots have been there for 3 days at least. My temp. is around 78-79 degrees, if it is ich and according to the life cycle, shouldn't it have dropped off by now? I don't know what it is, but it's something, so I started to add salt a couple of days ago. I'm up to .8 tsp/gal. right now and I'm going to run up to 2 tsp./gal for a week or so just to make sure. If it's ich that'll kill it before it gets going, if it's fungus, I've had pretty good luck with salt for that also. Anyone have any ideas or comments. I'm looking for something to ease my mind I guess.

My water params. are as follows:
PH 7.0
GH 120
KH 120
Am 0
Nite 0
Nate 30
Temp. 78.5-79.5

My Nate's range from <20 to <40 durning the week. I do my tank maintenance on Saturdays. Sunday nate is below 20; Friday nate's approaching 40. Starting to lightly plant the tank. Have had a couple of plants for a couple of weeks. Hopefully, they will help reduce the nitrate level further. My bio-load is relatively light, and I don't over-feed....at least I think I don't.
The "spot" is still on the Angel's pec. fin. I'ts around day 4. If it was Ich, I would think it would have dropped off by now with temp. around 79.5 degrees. Also, really hard to tell, but I think the spot may not be round, but more eliptical. It may also be located on the "spiney" part of the fin. Maybe it is just some calcerous deposit/growth anomaly??? My salt is up to 1.2 tsp./gal. Was thinking to go up to 2, but if it's not ich, I don't want to stress anyone any more than I have to. I lost my Hillstream Loach yesterday :(. He started acting strange shortly after the first dose of salt 3 days ago. I add salt slowly - around .2 tsp/gal every 12 hours trickeled into the water. Never had a problem before. It sucks, he was cool, I'll miss him. However, I don't think it was the right environment (moderately cold water/river current) for him anyway, so he won't be replaced.
