Firstly I would just like to thank everyone for there input for previous info they have passed onto me,I'm not on this forum everyday but know that I can always log on for great help and advice and just want to share this....
I cleaned my tank yesterday as normal but awoke this morning to find one of my peppered catfish belly up in the weed who I have had for approx 7 months. After cleaning the tank yesterday I sat back as I always do and admired how lovely it looked with everyone swimming and looking happy including the catfish they were playing with the Clown Loaches not uncommon.
So quite amazed that she was belly up but still alive....but very fat.
All that I can think of the fact that I added a few extra sinking wafers last night, they only have them a couple of times a week so maybe she was a wee bit greedy!! Anyway pressumed that she was gonna either way I look at it so might as well try some Epsom salts in a hospital tank which I have read about before on this forum, whether I should have done it with a peppered catfish I don't know. Not feeling too hopeful I walked away to attend to some household chores and to my amazement/shock I now have a peppered catfish sitting on the bottom showing a vast iprovement.
I'm certainly not saying that this will work for others but I feel very lucky that I may have rescued my somewhat greedy fish, having said that it is still early days but I really think you can tell if a fish is going to make it or not and looking at her every 1/2 hour she's looking better each time.
So there you go without having read about Epsom salt for constipation I may have lost her .......
