Hi
I have a problem with these two corals and was wonder what the problem could be. the green hammer head i think its called that, you can see the bottom tenticles are ,uch more thinner and longer than the ones in the middle. and with the other coral i think its called a leather finger or something. it stays like that all the time it never expands out like it did in the shops.

Ok Water parameters are 0 nitrite and ammonia, less than 10ppm nitrates, ph is at 8.3 and salinty is 1.023, calcuim 480 and carbonate hardness 180. I have had the finger coral for a week and it started to come out a little bit but after that it hasnt come out. i have placed it in the ideal spot close to light and good water flow. what could the problem be?

Thanks in advance

I think you're good. The hammer looks pretty healthy to me. Difficult to tell from the pic but those longer polyps could be sweeper tentacles which hammer use to gurad their territory. The only question is whether or not that white skeleton looking structure on the lower right of the hammer is a seperate rock/coral skeleton. If its part of the hammer, then you may have some tissue loss going on.

Never owned a leather but I see them in my LFS all the time. Some days they are open and then contracted for a couple weeks at a time. From what I have seen and read, this is perfectly normal for a leather.

I dont see any problem with hammer nor leather.

Just give space around hammer.
As far as Leather, i think it may be going thru "sloughing" period. Just monitor with good circulation around it. Dont know if new or how long it has been this way but seen on numerous occassion where they PERK up when the water conditions are to their liking (sometimes months).
Any periodic white slime peeling off from leather?
I cant tell from pic the coral colony left of finger leather (maybe calaustrea Sp, Acan??), but may be moving little distance from it if possible may help.

From the pic, it does not look like if Leather is deteriorating/falling apart. so just observe w/o constant unnecessary handling.

I dont know if the colony came as is, but if you look at the few branches where it has died/receded near hammer, Could it possible that the damages are done by hammer's sweeper tentacles?
If so, it is good idea to move the colony away from reaches of sweepers.

Any coral feeding?

There's no slime coming of the leather finger, it is also attached to the rock with those flowers on it. as for that white skeleton structure in the first photo it isn't part of the hammer head its just on a piece of live rock next to it.
I will try with some coral food today to see if the leather picks up.

The leather likely won't eat that food. They tend to prefer smaller phytoplankton and bacterioplankton to some extent, but are mostly absorptive feeders. Beyond that, both seem to be in decent shape. What kind of water motion is the leather in?

No, that's reasonable. For now, just give it more time. While they are relatively easy, leathers can still be finicky, especially when they are first added.
