I have never really looked into keeping a live planted tank before, but after seeing some pics of forum members, I realize how beautiful they can be. My (dumb) question is: What do I need to have a simple planted tank? aka: What is required with them that is different from keeping a non-live planted tank (lights, chemicals, substrate, etc.). Sorry for the very "newbie" question, but like I said I was never interested before so I never paid attention to them...... Thanks

Some advice when it comes to posting... make your topic title relavent to what you are asking. "Sorry" doesn't exactly tell us what you want.

As for your question. You can indeed have a simple planted tank. Low/moderate light tanks fall into this category quite nicely. Minimal maintanence, nutrient dosing, and co2 injection. Check this archived thread out for more info. The format is a little difficult to read, since I had to copy it from the old board, but it contains some good information.
