Okay so I haven't been posting much because my 55gallon has been incredibly understocked and has been doing great!

Well, tonight I am home and some of my boyfriends friends came over to visit him (we live together). While my boyfriend and I were outside, one of his friends apparently DUMPED all of the fish he had in his office fish tank, into MY tank!!

I was beyond livid. But then he said he'd get them out and dump them. Well, I a) did not want him NEAR my tank again and b) I really dont want the fish to die for some lame reason even if I didn't want them.

So here's my dilemma. I need to know how overstocked I am now and also if any of these fish are NOT compatible. I also know he dumped several varieties of schooling fish in my tank so I need to count for the additions I am going to have to get. Grrr.

So here is what I had in my tank:

3 balloon mollies
3 albino cories (my other 3 died a while ago and I never replaced them)
9 neon tetras
1 powder blue dwarf gourami

this is what he added :/ :
3 red eye tetras
3 zebra danios
1 spotted cory cat (julii?)
1 tiger barb
2 neon tetras
1 molly

I am beyond pissed but am trying to stay calm and make due with my current situation.

Specs on my tank are:

55 gallon tank, heavily planted, black moon sand substrate, HOB and canister filter (currently not running the canister however), several pieces of driftwood for decoration and hiding, heater (set to I believe 77).

Please help! I need major advice. It will take me forever to individually research all these new fish on my own.

Aggh. So annoyed, what an evening. :swear:

Wow, I am pissed just by reading your post.

From what I see everything looks fine, with the exception of the 1 tigar barb. Being there is only one, he may become a fin nipping problem. Is this now going to be a full time home for the fish?

yes he had them in plastic tupperware container apparently. We didn't even notice until we were halfway thru dinner. :/

so what should I do with the barb tonight? Stick him in a cup? Let him stay in the tank and hopefully not kill anyone? Also I am almost 100% my lfs doesnt take fish in... :( I've asked before and they said they just euth them. :/

Get a spare tub and keep it well filtered. You can use a box filter and put established filter media in there. Connect it to an airpump.

Keep watch on all your fish as the new ones were unquarantined.

I used an online stocking calculator (I know they are not the most accurate but I don't think it could hurt) and these are the warnings: Suggestion: Minimum recommend male to female ratio for Balloon Molly is 1:2 (M:F). You will less likely to experience problem if you get even more females.
Warning: Tiger Barb is too aggressive to co-exist with Neon Tetra.
Warning: At least 5 x Red Eye Tetra are recommended in a group.
Warning: Red Eye Tetra will likely to fin nip Balloon Molly. Try increasing the number to 6.
Warning: At least 4 x Julii Cory are recommended in a group.
Warning: At least 5 x Tiger Barb are recommended in a group.
Warning: Tiger Barb will likely to fin nip Balloon Molly. Try increasing the number to 10.
Warning: At least 4 x Albino Cory are recommended in a group.
Warning: At least 5 x Zebra Danio are recommended in a group.

Warning: Water temperature requirements are not fully compatible between all selected species.
=> 68 - 82.4F: Balloon Molly
=> 71.6 - 80.6F: Albino Cory
=> 68 - 82.4F: Neon Tetra
=> 77 - 82.4F: Dwarf Gourami
=> 71.6 - 78.8F: Red Eye Tetra
=> 64.4 - 75.2F: Zebra Danio
=> 77 - 82.4F: Julii Cory
=> 68 - 78.8F: Tiger Barb
=> 64.4 - 82.4F: Molly

And this is the stocking level: Your aquarium stocking level is 77%

I did input a random large filter so I can't give you any info on that.

This is just a rough estimate of everything but I figured it could not hurt to post it.

Here is a link to the calculator: http://aqadvisor.com/AqAdvisor.php?...AqSpeciesWindowSize=short&AqSearchMode=simple

I'd just lose the Tiger Barb and keep the rest. Maybe add a couple more Red Eyes, Zebras and Julii Corys to the mix.

Sucks he did that without asking, but at least those fish are mostly compatible with what you have. I would rehome the tiger barb. At least he didn't dump a trimac or anything like that in there.
