Hi,

I've been getting ready to set up a 10 gallon tropical tank. However, after getting a filter, heater, and a bottle of water conditioner, I've spent about $50, which is the most I can afford to spend.

So now I have everything I need (other than water test kit, but a good one costs at least $20-25), except for the tank. I have put out requests on Craigslist and Freecycle, but have only gotten responses for tanks out of my price range or too big. My parents are very firm (I've tried everything I can), they will only let me get a 10 gallon. If they would let me go bigger, I could have gotten a 30 gallon for free :shakehead:

So what I'm asking is, where can a I get a good tank for about $8 or less? My LFS (Petco) have basic 10 gallon tanks (All Glass Brand) for $11.99, but that is more than I can spend.

Thanks!
Isaac

Already tried that.

Wal-Mart is probably going to be the cheapest place IMO like $9.98 I think at mine. Have you tried looking for yard, garage or basement sales? You got a local recycling place or dump? Ask the people working there to keep an eye out for you. A thrift store in my area also has them SOMETIMES.

For effective craigslist browsing I look at the community section "pets," the "free" section, and then search the "all for sale" section for terms "fish" and "aquarium." I get better luck browsing everyday then posting a want ad.

Don't stop looking. I just got a ten gallon for free! Just keep looking on craigslist, people are dying to get rid of some.

Where exactly in MN are you located?

Here's one I just found:

Also check on www.minnfish.com. There's always local tanks being sold there.

I also have a spare 10 gallon that I'm thinking of selling/possibly giving away. If you are willing to pick it up you can have it. PM me if you can. :)
