Source of ammonia

I'm not sure why anyone would want to try using human urine when one can simply buy a bottle of ammonia at Ace hardware stores.
Not sure why anyone would want to add food or shrimp either as it seems to me that it would take longer to ascertain whether or not you've added too much, or too little and make what should be a simple process, raising the level of ammonia to 5ppm, into a complicated set of guess work.
It took me about ten minutes, testing in between, to raise the level in my tank using an eye-dropper, a few drops at a time.
JMO as a noob myself.......
