I heard there was a special chemical that would make your tank cycle in just a day or two. i dont know if this is true or not. if it is please tell me! if you know any way to speed up the cycle process please tell me that too.

Thanks

thats biospira, and its not really a chemical but a packet of live bacteria that would instantly cycle your tank in 4-5 days. its also a bit expensive, a 1oz packet will cycle up to 30G's and cost anywhre between 14-18 bucks.

there is a product called Bio-Spira which can help you cycle your tank. There are several things to note:
*It is not cheap. Can run you anywhere from 25-50 bucks or more, esp. if you have it shipped.
*Bio-Spira is bacteria. Some of the ammonia-eating kind, and some of the nitrite-eating kind. Since it is full of living creatures, the Bio-Spira needs to be refrigerated. Cool temperatures keep the bacteria in "hibernation" so that they do not need to eat. If the package warms up the bacteria will become active, and starve. Needless to say, big waste of money if it was not handled properly all the way down the line.
*Follow the instructions exactly! You add the Bio-Spira and a full fish load at the same time to a clean, dechlorinated tank.
*Test your water daily. Some people have no cycle, most people see a very small one (maybe a week long) and others find that their Bio-Spira didn't work at all. Be prepared for any of these things to happen.

where can you buy the bio spira(stores). i found it online but i would rather get it local in southwest michigan. and ideas?

either go to the marineland website where they should have a list of dealers, however, stores that buy some marineland products won't necessarily have bio-spira. either call around to see if they have it in stock, or ask if they can special order it for you.
