Hey
I've been wondering are special fish foods for certain species all that good? Are they any better than the rest? I was thinking about getting this

Would it be worth ordering it online? Can it actually make a difference if I took regular flakes out of his diet completely or should I just keep feeding bloodworms reg. flakes and brine shrimp, instead of bloodworms brine shrimp and the food form the link?
Thanks

flakes is pretty much flakes if by quality manufacturers. all that stuff about flakes for this species and that species is just marketing hype ... if they can convince people that betta's need 'special' food and discus need 'special' food and blah and blah ... think how much more 'special' food people would buy.

I tend to pay far more mind to the ingredients in the food rather than what they are claimed to do.

For example, many of the so-called algae-based foods have fish meal as their first ingredient. That should let you know a thing or two. I ended up buying the Omega One veggie rounds simply because they actually had more plant derived foods than all of the other brands.

Same would go for protein, etc.

So do some research and figure out what diet is best for whichever fish you are planning to feed. Most fish are not special needs fish and will do just fine with good quality staple (OSI, Omega One, etc) and a few supplemental feedings of whatever is needed.

If you have special needs fish, by all means take the time to figure out the best combination rather than just use one particular food. Honestly for angels I would stick with the standard flakes/pellets and every week or so feed a veggie based food.

Agreed. Check out the ingredients: you'll have spirulina-based, with same stuff as many other similar, eg "Veggie Flakes." Look at the percentages of protein, fiber, etc. Some tropicals (e.g. Malawi mbuna) need far less protein in their diet or they'll bloat. Research, compare.
