i just bought a spiney eel from my lfs and i put him in my tank and he just sat there, i wasnt sure if anything was wrong so i left. A few hours later i returned to find him a few inches to the left and on his side with his gills doing what gills do... I toched him with my net and he didnt move, he is very stiff. does anyone know whats wrong, i did put in copper based ich remover in a few weeks ago could that be it, or does that only hurt snails and such?

I know im talking to myself but, i found the problem, it is the copper i didnt know it hurt scaless fish, wich is what my eels is... it is still alive does anyone know if it will get better or is it paralized and i should just kill it.

Before i euthanize it i would do a few water changes to get the copper out of the tank, If you ask me, it seems as if the fish was "shocked" did you just dump it in the tank or did you let it acclimate to the water and temp? some fish can die from big Ph and temp swings, also post your water test results,

Ph
ammonia
nitrite
nitrate

we also need your maintenance routine, and feeding routine

i didnt want to put him in a bag of copper water to aclimate him to a copper free tank, but they are both basicly similar in temp and ph,amonia, nitrite, ect.

i just turned around to check... hes dead  crazy what stupid mistakes can do, what if he was expensive, i would be kicking my self for weeks. Thanks for the help
