They can and will if they can catch the thing. Spixis are excellent pest removers. Hydras being their specialty. Why? Because hydras just sit there and get eaten while the slow-moving eating machine gobbles them up. Planaria puts up a chase but will be eaten as well if given the chance.
Helpful post to maybe increase sales(?).
Spixis are AMAZING snails if you have hydra problems. I keep and use spixis all the time to eliminate invert tanks with hydras. They keep your shrimp safe from those little buggers and do an excellent job at it! I had multiple shrimp tanks that "magically" had hydra in them. I would throw in 4-6 spixis in the tank (10-20gal) and the hydras were eliminated by at least 95% within 2 weeks time. 80-90% in a week's time.
They're the best and most natural way of disposing hydras
