I have seen spong filters on the market for large 55 to 125 gallon aquariums. I have used sponge filters on small tanks and love them. Does anyone have any experience with sponge filters in large tanks.

come on. Doesnt any one have anything good or bad to say about sponge filters. I have always believed simple is better.

I don't like them for larger aquariums because they won't circulate the water well enough. A similar option would be to use a powerhead with a prefilter.

i have used the big sponge filters on 70 gallon tanks. they are outstanding providing all the filtration needed. used in conjunction with a powerful air pump, like the big tetratec deep water ones, they would be great in a deep aquarium.

thanks guys. I think im going to use a sponge filter and a HOB filter. Also that set up (ansbfish) is very interesting and I am going to experement with that a little. thanks
