Is it possible to cultivate green algae that grows on the glass with out growing other algaes? I want algae for my shrimp and ottos, but not on my plants.

Put some "aquarium" rocks in some "aquarium" water in a clear container by the window. The rocks will get algae by itself.
dose less P and you will eventually get some GSA on the glass of your tank.....but most fish have a very hard time with the hardness of GSA and dont do much to get rid of it
