Spotless Clown

This was given to me by a friend of mine and I was wondering what species this is since it doesnt have stripes or spots like the royal or regular clown.. Any info would help...thanks :help:

Looks like an African Brown Knife (Xenomystus nigri) to me, not closely related to Clown Knifes at all as they are from SE Asia. They also don't get nearly as big (8-10") max and are not as aggressive. I kept one for about 8 years in a normal mixed community tank.

hi guys i asked around and they told me african b. knives dont have the feather back or that small dorsal fin...are they right what do u guys think? :confused:
 
it's definitely a knife of some sort... there's no way it's a clown something or other. Is the reason you're calling it a clown because it's primarily on the floor of the tank? I mean, other than what your friend told you?

There exists a clown knife.
 
I see.... foggy brain this early in the morning ;) I was thinking loaches... sorry about that... :D, anyhoot....this one in the picture though is not a clown... it's more likely the Asiatic.
 
Some say that it might be a chitala lopis cause they are spotless vaersion of the clown knife..i'm not really sure f anyone has any info on the ch. lopis or asiatic knife i would really appreciate it.... ;)
