Put some frozen food on a feeder stick ,and wiggle it around to make it look live.

You are aware that it can get to 45" and will need at least a 180 gallon tank, right?

hmmm, 180(24" front to back), does'nt seem to provide much room for a 45" fish to turn around or move any other way.

Volcommike, just as a matter of netiquette--when you write in all capitals, it is considered to be yelling. I'm sure you don't mean to do this . . .

You might not be able to get the gar to accept other foods for a while, but you should try to slowly introduce other foods such as frozen silversides or something like that.If you get the food to move, it might trick the gar into thinking it's live.
