Spray paiting my tank background log....Metallics

Looks good! I wonder how the metallic particles will affect the flash when taking pictures?

looks sweet.. makes me wish I had tried this

I just painted mine normal blue-- looks cool but nothing special

i don't think that the flash should be too bad. if you look at the link of the pics taken in KuchDaddy's thread, it doesnt look too bad. i like the shimmer effect personally. I placed the test panels behind the tank and the blue is a bit darker then the blue cellophane, and looks similar, but i attribute that to the fact that its not actually painted on. It should look ten times better i think.

Alot of people i have asked so far say they like the cobalt blue as well, woot.

oi suuuuuuuuuub looks hot! there had better be more pics on the whole tank set up.

The 25 gal test tank is done. Per inka's suggestion, i mixxed the black and blu spray paints. the results is a navy blue cobalt look, not too bad if you ask me. I did alot of masking off but the spray paint gets in the air and settles on everything, so make a note that if you do this, make sure u drop cloth EVERYTHING in sight. i probably did about 5 coats of each color, altnernating layers starting with blue. Also, i masking of the tank and when i took the tape off it started to take some of the paint with it. Note to self: tape to the side of the tank to make sure full coverage and no ripping of the paint. The pics where i did not use a flash show the color as true as possible, the ones with the flash u can see the flash in the glass.

yeah, i drained most of the tank and left the stock in with about 3-4 inches of water, it also enabled me to move the tank 90 degrees. i had a fan going and the ac to keep the room cool to improve cooling

wow dude thats hot

I had made my decision, i will be spray painting the tank background black on my bigger tank. The blue is nice and all, but it hink the black will be much more fitting to the style tank the 72 will be, that is to say densely planted and i want the colors of my fish to really pop.
