Hello everyone,

I have a question about my cabomba plant, and was hoping someone could help me with this.

My cabomba is going nuts! It's fantastic, it's been a week since I bought it and it's nearly doubled in size. What I want to do is to spread the cabomba, so I have a bit of a jungle for my Betta to hide in. Is there a way I can do this with my current plant? Lik splitting up the stalks, or making shoots, etc. Or would I just be better off going and purchasing a couple more plants, and planting them around it.

Thanks for your time!

When the stem gets to 8inches or so pinch it off (with your thumbnail) 3-4in from the top just above where a set of leaves attach to the stem. Leave the bottom planted, it should branch at the pinch to grow 2 new stems. Plant the top piece & it'll grow new roots.
I must say I'm a bit jealous, cabomba never did well for me, too little light & too high temp. I think.

I'm as surprised as anyone. My tank goes from about 75 at night, to 80-84 during the day, while the light is one. Two 25W bulbs and I I turn them on when I wake up, and off when I go to bed. I read that Cabomba needs about 4W/Gal, and it's only getting ~3.3, so I don't know. It's also my first time housing plants, so I didn't expect it to live.

Thanks for the info, I will try that tonight!
