Hi OK for years have been hearing about people complaining about walmart's fish department. Because there fish are under weight, Sick, covered in ich, and dead. So people write them letters by them selves. So that when they get the letter it's just one or two that get dismissed by WALMART.

SO WE ARE JUST SICK OF IT AND IF YOU ARE TO COME JOIN OUR CAUSE AND OUR FIGHT. BECAUSE EVERY PERSON THAT JOINS WE ARE THAT MUCH STRONGER. SO CLICK ON THE LINK READ UP ON WHERE WE ARE AT IN SETTING THIS UP AND MAKE A POST SAYING YOUR IN AND IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HELP WITH THE WORK LOAD. THE WORK IS NOTHING COMPARED TO HOW MANY OF OUR FISHY FRIENDS WALMART HAS KILLED.

the biggest impact you can have is to stop buying the product. aka Boycott

for a large company it's all about costs.

if you really think about it..they bulk buy..meaning most likely a breeder who sells to Walmart is most likley selling culls. or mass producing fish to meet the demand.

Walmarts tank set ups are similar to most chain fish/petstores.

I think the big question is where they get their stock.

hI

For got to add that was the tittle of the thread that was started.

WE ARE GOING TO PETA. THEY WILL DO NOTHING. WE ARE GOING THIS OUR SELVES.

PLEASE TAKE SOME TIME AND GO THERE AND READ WHERE WE ARE AT.

as star said, it's all about cost and bottom line. walmart couldn't care less about a bunch of letters. maintaining their generally 'junk' fish in a more appropriate manner will cost them money. they're simply not going to do that. anything that impacts their bottom line WILL have an impact and that, my fishy friends, is your answer. hit them in the bottom line by not buying fish from them.

A good example is their removal of christmas from the stores last year. Many people chose to do their christmas shopping elsewhere and thats why they are bringing it back. The huge amount of complaints didn't bring it back last year. It wasnt until they counted the losses after christmas that they decided it wasnt a good idea to remove christmas from their stores.

Yes but people let's get real - millions care about some stupid label like "Christmas" but how many people do you think actually give a crap about fish?

And who is going to boycott? Us? We probably make up...um...maybe like 3% of the people who buy fish from Wal-Mart. The other 97% are the usual folks - impulse buyers, kids, and very casual/passive hobbyists.

In fact I wonder what the ratio of hardcore nuts like us is to those people who just happen to have an aquarium amongst the other decor and furniture in their house.

Thus boycotting is completely out of the question as an effective means of getting any attention at all. It's about as effective as voting for a green party candidate. Therefore sadly, the letter writing campaign is about the only thing that could be done. But then again, if how Wal-Mart treats humans is any indication of how much they will care about fish, I stand resigned without having ever even tried.

Anyone keeping count?? How many Boycott/Darn Walmart threads does this make now?? LOL

Honestly, from what I've heard, it's different for every store. Some are good, some are bad. You'll find that with any store.

I lost count a long time ago :joke:

PLEASE do not involve PETA. those animal rights extremists are either going to end up going in there and buying all of the fish (and adding to the demand) and then releasing them into the local waterways so they can be "free," or do something even crazier, like go after civilians that come out of the store (like with spraypaint and throwing vegetables at them [remeber, PETA people dont throw eggs])

Why would anybody buy fish at walmart?LOL Maybe aquarium supplies..........But fish? Come on. Just look at the experts in there taking care of them. :duh: ...............SHEEEEEEEEEEEEESH
