Starting canister filter, priming.

I just got a Eheim 2213 i set it up and its good to go. How do I prime it short of buying those priming parts or sucking on the hose. I've got those switches on my pipes if that helps.

nevermind i just hooked up the hose to a footpump and sucked it with the pump

Yea, that works . I just gave my outlet hose a small suck and the water started siphoning on its own. When the canister was almost full I closed the outlet line , reconnected it and fired it up. I also heard rocking it back and forth works but was hesitant. Good luck !!

you can also take the outlet port of a powerhead and run it into the 'intake', that worked for me to get it started. I suppose you could even do the reverse as well, put the inlet port of the powerhead against the outlet of the eheim and draw from the other way, but i didn't need to when I had an eheim 2217. worked great.
