Starting Cycle But Confused Again

never use play sand! there are only 2 that are about 99% safe, and they are hard to get, and still lack the natural buffing of aragonite and they are so fine that they can cause a problem if not kept clean. most other regular play sand has metals that will leach out or ohe chemicals or substances that u dont want. mixing it will just cause pockets...i wouldnt do it...i have seen far to many stubborn people loose their money for taking the cheep rout in sand and the set up in general...im not being mean but to be honest if ur gona be cheep and not do it the right way then u shouldn't keep live animals.:)

I will take sand back. As I do not have southdown. But I have read over and over that people have used sand from Home Depot and didn't have many problems.

i have heard it to as well...but for how long was it well? u never hear the defeat and horror stories do u? lol well i have tanks crash for unknown reason...it leached something out...and homedepo is careless they mix stuff all the time.

hahahaha, point taken. So were do go get sand? Here our lfs are rip offs, I've seen one store sell a cpr overflow for 165.00 and I ordered the exact same overflow from one line for 47.00 and that includes shipping.

I'm not cheap by any means, but I do know the moment you say Salt Water eyes light up and the dollar signs are flashing.

Look around online, you should find some for a good price if it doesn't need shiped to Timbucto

Thank you again. I got my sand today. 200lb for 60.00 from a tank that was broke down. Now since I'm not filling this yet, will this harm the sand? Its Cariban,

Just rinse it really well. You'll be fine

3 inches, it will possibly go to 4 when I add the live sand right before I fill the tank. I'm still looking for a RO system....Patient is killing me, but I'd rather do it right the first time
