Starting ,new SW tank yippie

reminder to me ...........The conscientious marine aquarist -bob fenner.

So i have hubby in the tank ,using a bowl to get the CC out then we will get the sand in .
Now i will wait untill it clears and hopefully my friend will be home to take pics and use her port .
Had hubby boiling water most of the day ,and i will continue tomorrow untill all our buckets are full .....
any other books i should have let me know as i wil eith go look for them next weekend or order them on line .

If you have 4" PVC pipe you can use that to cut down on the fog in the tank. You just cut a peace a bit longer then your tank is tall. Then put the pipe in the water agenst the bottom ad fill it threw the top. When the pipe is full then left the pipe slowly and the sand just fluffs out easy. I dose help I tryed it.
 
Yes we were going to use the extra hose we have and then just decided what the heck just dump it ,nothing in there to get hurt lol
Yip it is foggy but will clear in a day or 2 .
Hubby and i we so dreading this CC change that we procrastinated a week ,
but it was very simple and easy ,we even calked the inside of the overflow while we were at it .
We also checked the power off level on our sump and is perfect ,with no water overflowing , marked the max for this .
I cant wait to finally get this going but we are in no hurry either ,still need to get more then 100lbs live rock in it lol

Q,When we build our rock in our tank ,we could glue peices so we dont have a cave in right ?
i think getting the rock the way we want it will be the hardest and longest part,plus we would like to put some pvc in too .
We plan on mixing the rock ,cheap(heavy) and the more expensive rock(lighter),this is what we are going to concentrate on the next 3 to 4 months.

if our daughter buggs us we will geet 3 to 4 fish 2 nemo's and 2 sand sifters lol

I'm new to SW but have been doing allot of reading so take this for what it is. You can glue the rocks together with 2 part epoxy putty. it will stick to wet rock and will harden underwater. I would think that you just don't want the peaces you make to be to big. If you have to take them out of the tank at some point. You could make a few medium size clusters and just rest those together. I would just make sure that they were light enough for one person to move buy there selves. If you dope something to big it could crack the tank.

I put a filter sock in my sump to clear it up.
