Hi everyone,

I'm currently in the process of completely redoing a 75g tank. I want to turn it into a SW tank and I really need some help.

Today I'm in the first stage of tank dismantling... It's alot of stinkin work!

Im using a straight edge razor to remove the many layers of caulk from the inside edges of the tank. This seems like way more effort than should be needed, but it is working none the less...

I have one end out, but stupid me chiped the bottom of the glass doing it. I dont think it will be a problem because the chips are small and should be well hidden once I put the tank back together.

In case it matters the glass is 1/2inch

I want to completely take this tank apart, strip the glass and clean it, then I want to make a completely new tank, stand, and hood.

I would love to make a huge tank thats the same dimensions as my current tank just alot taller... Is this possible, and does anyone have a good link to some cheap 1/2 acrylic?

For right now I intend on making the tank stand to hold my sump tank underneath. I will probably make my stand/cannopy a wall style so that I can incorporate any needed hoses and wiring from the base to the tank and cannopy. (yes folks the stand-tank-cannopy will be a monster)

These are some of the tank ideas I have in my head right now, however I am a newb in many senses of the term... I've never built a tank, stand, cannopy or anything like that. Also I've never setup a SW tank.

Long story short I need help :look:

Can anyone help me in my ADVENTURE?

Thanks

P.S. "Starting Over" is a TV show on at 10am that my wife likes to watch...

LOL...

This is funny, I was looking through at my old post's and I saw this...

Ladies and Gentlemen... This is why you dont strip a tank down and completely disasemble it! :headshake2:

Look at the date!

BTW - Its funny cause the tank hasn't changed! its still taken apart in my barn... just sitting there :help:

The adventure continues to this day...

And I guess cheap acrylic doesn't exist???

It's kinda funny to read that post, and the big idea I had for that tank so long ago.... Don't get me wrong, it'd still be cool... but so much stinkin work! I guess I got lazy or something because I'm obviously not to drivin to finish that tank...:headshake2:

he he I remember reading and thinking "yeah that sounds like something I would do and never finish" and then I got to the bottom and looked back up to notice the date. probably the biggest thing I've figured out from my years of tinkering is that most DIY typically costs more in time and money as you progress than just buying the **** thing. But then again I get into DIY as yet another hobby... and it's normal to dump all of ones income into a hobby right??
