Steve Jobs determines smoking is injurious to your Mac

not to mention dont drink coffee with sugar or put any baby powder on your kids butt anywhere near your computer
I feel sort of like one of the comments said. 2 warranties have been voided out of how many? Probability of having your svoided for the same reason is so minute it's not even measurable. Well it is but it would be something TINY. I would like to see in writing where these people where told this.
I've seen first hand that computers can actually be damaged by cigarette smoke. I used to fix/work on computers. But, with that said it's got to be a pretty extreme case for that damage to occur within a warranty period.
I doubt that Apple will adopt as standard policy to void warranties on smokers computers. I imagine that in these specific cases the damage done to the computer was actually done by the deposits that smoke leaves, specifically on the cooling elements.
I'm all for marginalizing smokers because they chose a habit which is obnoxious and disgusting. But, this isn't an anti-smoking policy.

this is funny. there's crazy comments out the wazoo after the article. most people are aguing over ridiculous idiocracies and what-ifs. steve jobs is snotting and whining and having a breakdown and taking it out on everyone else again. he has a history of that. that's how he lost his company the first time. now he's working on losing it a third time.
as far as i see it... you smoke... and want a mac... build a hackintosh. since the warranty may be useless after steves incident (idk, i heard mention of a cancer bout) and you pay twice as much for hardware with an upside down half eaten fruit on it. i'd say build your own mac but twice as powerful on the same budget. problem solved.
anyway... i may not like dells proprietary bull!@#$ but when i dropped my laptop (my fault not the manufacturers and they new it) they replaced it with a newer faster one with better specs all around. it's funny, i smoke like a chimney right into it and there was not even a conversation about it for a whole free laptop. they even sent my hard drive back. considering i've had 2 of them with better hardware specs than any current mac book was offering for less than the price of one macbook... well jobs' 3% of the share might just drop some more.
