We plan to make a reef tank with coral and fish. Plan to take it slow and research everything before it goes in the tank.

Am adding salt now.

Decided that the scratches aren't bad enough to worry about. The lfs has much worse scratches than we have and we never noticed them until they pointed them out. Our's are real noticable because there is nothing in the tank.

Nice collection, looks like a promising start to a reef. What is the wattage of the lighting you are using, it looks like PC lighting.

We don't have the correct lighting yet. We will add that when the tank is cycled. It's a Coralife fixture, with crappy tubes.

Okay - update

Changed out the light tubes to a coralife 50/50 compact flourescent - 96 watt.

Added 20 lbs of live rock. have some coraline algae, a small red coral, and some sponge. Waiting to see what other hitchhikers we picked up.

specific gravity is 1.027

Planning on adding some snails and hermit crabs Saturday

I'd lower the SG just a tad. Can we get a closeup of the sponge and coral?

certainly agree with lowering the sg...get it down to around 1.023 - 1.025...

Starting to look much better now some rock has gone in there...Keep the updates coming...
