Stick my hand in? Green Terror

you aint gotta worry about them biting u the only cichlids that do that are dovii, managuenses, red devils, umbees and buttikafri. there are a couple more but green terrors arnt one of them oh and feed them good pellets like hikari gold, and try aglae wafers and give them treats like krill, worms, crickets, shrimp, and every once in a while give them some QUARINTINED feeders. ur terror should come out like a champ. member to feed him once a day not too much or it will mess with their digestive track remember in the wild they are lucky to come by food once every other day. so try to stick with once a day no matter how much he begs u. BTW fish can go for a couple of weeks without eating....BUT DONT TRY IT THOUGH!!!!!!! OR I WILL PERSONALLY COME THERE AND SLAP U! j/k

GOOD LUCK

be sure to vary their diet liek the others have suggested. GTs have a problem with "addictions" where if they get fed the same thing too long they'll stop eating other foods and their nutrition will go down the toilet ;)

when I had mine years ago I fed him cichlid pellets, small feeder goldfish and tubiflex worm. not as varied as it could have been, but I wasn't quite as informed then as I am now ;)

That is soooooooo not true! BOTH of my GT's attack my hands when I put them in the tank. They get even MORE aggessive when they have fry, which is about every other month. As a matter of fact, the female is carrying eggs in her mouth as we speak. The bite doesn't really hurt but it does startle the hell out of me because they hit you with lightining strikes. As for feeding, they get Hikari gold, staple, beefheart and bloodworms.

You should be fine. When cichlids breed they will be pretty agressive to protect their turff. Mine is the alpha fish in my tank right now and he is about 8 in. You shouldn't have a problem if you have him with other Centeral American Cichlids and mine doesnt atack my hand as of yet. Also my tank is a 90 gal. I did have an oscar that used to attack my hand it was cute and didn't hurt. They don't chew up front they just gum you.
