still need help! how do i set up a fish only tank?

do you need live rock for a fish only tank? or can you just have the salt water and ocean rock?

i have an invert & fish marine tank set up but would like to set up a smaller tank possibly for breeding. do i need to go through the same process as when i set up my mixed tank, or is it more striaght forward. i can use the matured water from my other ank but am unsure whether live sand and rock is needed.

if any one has any advise it would be much appreciated!

There is nothing in the mature water that will help with the new tank. Live rock is your major biological filtration. Get 1 - 1 2/2 lbs. per gallon.

ok that fine i just wanted to know whether you needed all the live rock and everything even though you dont intend on having corals or other inverts. i seen many a tank with just sand, ocean rock or white dead coral...just items that serve as display. the fish are the main attraction...this isant what im aiming to achieve however i just want a set up that pleasant to look at an that my clowns will breed in. ive been told to just have a tank and flower pot or slate but thats not attractive or surely the best environment for the clowns to live in.
