Stocking 20 Long around Zebra Danios

Thanks! I'm hoping to stabilize and then maybe fill out a bit more with anubias.

Danios are spazzes! They were the first additions to my tank and at first I was smitten, loved all their activity and they were fun to watch. After I added some Harleys, I wished I would have waited on the danios only because they are going NON stop all day! They are cute lil buggers though!

BTW beautiful tank! :)

Thanks for the compliment. The danios I have are also crazy :nilly: but really fun too. They've been very well behaved, also, never had any fin nipping issues with my former dwarf gourami.

I have zebras, too, and they are somewhat well-behaving. They don't bother the other fish, but they insist on chasing each other constantly, except at night. They also love to eat their fry, when the other fish in my tank don't seem to care that much, and the cherry barbs' eggs. The good thing about them is that they're really hardy and extremely prolific in producing offsprings. I find at least a dozen fry every week when doing water change. A few weeks ago, I found at least 35 that I could count! I have about 20 fry that I'm growing right now; that includes a cherry barb fry that managed to evade the zebras.

Another update -- big change! I picked up a 29g today and swapped it in to replace the 20g long. (Did this mostly to absorb some of my excess bio-load) Specific steps:

1. Removed equipment from 20g
2. Removed fish, plants, decor, substrate and water from 20g
3. Moved the 20g and put the 29g in it's place
4. Moved everything into the 29g (including the water -- mostly just to keep the transition as low-impact as possible)
5. Added some more Eco Complete
6. Added an AC 20 to supplement the AC 50 that had been on the 20g
7. Replanted all the plants, made sure all machinery was running

At the time of moving the fish back in, I noticed that I was missing 1x julii cory, but I didn't see a body, so I'm wondering if the little guy died at some point and wasted away...hopefully I didn't lose him during the move.

Aside from that, things look pretty good. All fish seem to be happy swimming and exploring the new space -- it's kind of neat, actually, to now have a clear open water area above the plants for the danios and rasboras to cruise. I also feel like this swap was a good practice run for whenever I next move.

Will try to post some pics tomorrow.......woot.

As promised, here's a pic. I'm still playing around with different decor items and plants, but the Xmas wrapping paper background is here to stay!

Thanks for looking!
